Born in Italy in 1967, Kappa is a leading sportswear brand worn by the world’s biggest teams and brightest stars.

Kappa produces distinctive slimline apparel for football, basketball, volleyball, autoracing, skiing, sailing, golf, fencing and martial arts. Its streetwear collections reflect its northern Italian roots.

The “Omini” logo stands for quality, humanity and authenticity.

 The Omini Logo

Kappa’s “Omini” logo pictures the silhouette of a man and woman leaning against each another. It represents the equality of men and women and their mutual support.

The logo was created quite by accident during a photoshoot for a bathing suit advertisement for Beatrix in 1969.  The silhouette cast by the backlighting of a man and woman leaning against one another seems to say something.  The idea grew into what is now the logo for the Kappa and Robe di Kappa brands and a recognized symbol of quality and style.


Kappa was born of a sock and underwear company named Maglificio Calzificio Torinese (MCT) in 1916 in the Italian city Turin.  Kappa was created as a sub-brand of the Aquila brand as a result of a production problem that had caused a loss in sales.

The production problem was fixed and all new product was stamped with a K, standing for the German word for control, Kontrollen.  Sales surged and in 1967 the K was formally called Kappa, the Greek letter for K.

MCT and its Kappa brand focused on casual clothing until former employee Marco Boglione returned to the company with a vision for a new category of clothing - "sportswear".
